About the role
Mothership is a Singapore-based digital news platform focused on younger audiences and backed by more than a decade of presence in the local media space. The organisation is expanding its digital-first journalism work and is looking for a motivated Podcast Producer to join its next stage of growth. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to stories that shape public conversation in Singapore while working with experienced media professionals.
As part of the Audio Projects team, you will help create a new narrative-led podcast series. The role is suited to someone who enjoys developing engaging audio content and working collaboratively with others who are passionate about storytelling in podcast format.
Key responsibilities
- Shape and assemble entertaining, informative podcast episodes.
- Research a broad range of topics that are relevant to the audience.
- Find guests and newsmakers, then build working relationships with them.
- Draft scripts and develop story pitches.
- Create and carry out marketing plans to support the podcast.
What the role calls for
The team is seeking someone with previous experience in writing, journalism, podcasting, or hosting shows. Experience with audio editing and production tools will be an advantage, as will familiarity with the broader landscape of narrative or story-driven audio content.
Ideal candidates are naturally curious about socio-cultural trends, strong at spotting compelling stories, and comfortable working on their own to chase leads and opportunities. A solid understanding of Singapore’s political environment is also important. You should regularly listen to a wide variety of podcasts and audio programming, and be fluent in both written and spoken English.
This position requires resilience, flexibility, and the ability to perform well in a highly dynamic, fast-moving, and competitive media setting.
