Job description
About the company
Shameless Media is a major Australian media brand behind shows such as Shameless, Everybody Has A Secret, Style-ish, and Inherited. Its content is recognised for being sharp, witty, and thoughtful, especially on subjects that resonate with women. The team is growing the interview-led show Inherited and is seeking an experienced podcast producer to help drive that growth.
Role overview
This is an off-air production role focused on creating polished audio content from idea to release. You will contribute at every step of the process, including developing concepts, supporting scripts, coordinating talent, recording, editing, publishing, and promotion. The position includes creative influence and editorial responsibility, with a direct hand in shaping the tone and direction of Inherited.
The role is best suited to someone with 3 to 5 years of experience producing podcasts end to end, ideally in a busy creative setting, and someone who enjoys making smart, entertaining content for a broad, loyal audience.
Role details
- Position: Podcast Producer
- Reports to: Head of Podcasts
- Work location: Cremorne, Melbourne
- Employment type: Full-time
- Work arrangement: 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home
- Experience required: 3 to 5 years in audio, including podcasting and radio, with audio editing experience
- Preferred start time: August 2026
Key responsibilities
- Partner with the editorial team to generate ideas and help steer the creative direction of Inherited.
- Edit and produce podcast episodes and full-length video episodes to a professional broadcast standard using Adobe Audition, Premiere Pro, or comparable tools.
- Take ownership of the full production process, from concept development and scripting support through guest booking, recording, editing, uploading, and publishing.
- Lead guest research, booking, and production as a core part of the job.
- Keep production timelines and deadlines on track across several shows.
- Work with guests, talent, and internal colleagues to ensure production runs smoothly and professionally.
- Support promotional planning and delivery across platforms, including social assets, show notes, and titles.
- Apply strong publishing practices around metadata, episode structure, and hosting-platform uploads.
Required skills and experience
- At least 3 years of experience in podcast production or a closely related audio/media role.
- Hands-on capability with Adobe Audition and Premiere Pro, plus confidence using podcast hosting systems.
- Ability to edit both audio and video content.
- Sound editorial judgment and the ability to turn rough material into a polished final product.
- Strong organisation and the ability to handle several projects and deadlines at once.
- Excellent attention to detail, especially for edits, show notes, and metadata.
- Clear, professional communication skills for working with guests and internal stakeholders.
- Interest in pop culture, storytelling, and digital media.
What the team is looking for
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, dependable, and genuinely passionate about podcast production. The team values someone who enjoys the full off-air production process, is excited by storytelling, and stays engaged with current, compelling stories. You do not need to have mastered every aspect already, but you should be ready to learn, collaborate, and create strong work with a team that enjoys what it does.
If you have a strong ear, a careful eye for detail, and the ability to keep a show moving smoothly from start to finish, this opportunity could be a great fit.
What we can offer
Shameless Media describes itself as a small, agile, youthful, and flexible workplace. The team is looking for the right person to help grow the business and contribute to a fast-moving, energetic environment.
