Job description

Overview

A fast-growing food manufacturing company is looking for a seasoned Plant Director to take charge of a major production site as it enters a new phase of performance improvement, capacity growth, and organizational maturity. This is a senior, highly visible leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to operations, improving how work gets done, and building strong teams and systems.

The business is investing heavily in its facilities, equipment, and people, creating a strong opportunity for the right leader to make a lasting impact on the operation and its future direction. Relocation support is available.

Why This Role Is Attractive

  • More than $100 million is being committed to manufacturing growth and new production capability.
  • The position includes full profit and loss responsibility for a significant plant.
  • You will help shape the site’s culture, operating systems, leadership pipeline, and overall strategy.
  • The leadership team is strongly committed to continuous improvement and operational progress.
  • The environment offers meaningful growth and advancement potential.
  • Relocation assistance is available.

Role Summary

Reporting to executive leadership, the Plant Director will own site operations end to end, including manufacturing performance, food safety, quality, maintenance, engineering, and workforce development.

The role requires leadership of a large cross-functional management team and the ability to drive improvements in efficiency, employee capability, equipment reliability, sanitation, and output. Success in this position will come from combining strategic thinking with a visible, hands-on presence on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all plant functions, covering production, quality, food safety, maintenance, engineering, and ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Take accountability for facility financial results, including P&L ownership, budgeting, cost control, and EBITDA improvement.
  • Create and execute operating plans that increase throughput, reliability, product quality, and profitability.
  • Build a strong performance culture rooted in accountability, engagement, training, and leadership growth.
  • Put robust systems in place for sanitation, preventive maintenance, process control, defect reduction, and operational consistency.
  • Work in close coordination with Supply Chain, HR, Finance, Commercial, and Engineering partners to support business priorities.
  • Track plant KPIs and drive corrective action where needed to deliver lasting performance gains.
  • Prepare the site for major capital work, new equipment deployment, and future volume expansion.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, quality, regulatory, and workplace safety standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal hire is not simply an operator, but a builder of organizations and systems. This person understands that operational excellence is driven by people, and knows how to strengthen leadership, accountability, food safety culture, and long-term execution.

They should be energized by the challenge of taking a successful operation and advancing it toward world-class performance.
