Picture Archiving and Communication System Administrator

About the Role

Al Salama Hospital in Jeddah is looking for a knowledgeable and committed PACS Administrator to join its Radiology Services division. The professional will oversee the management, upkeep, and enhancement of the hospital's Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS), playing a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and upgrade both hardware and software components related to PACS to maintain peak system efficiency.
• Manage daily operations of PACS and RIS, including tasks like image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and quality adjustments.
• Administer HL7 interfaces connecting the Hospital Information System (HIS) with the RIS.
• Continuously monitor PACS activities, resolve system issues promptly, and ensure timely processing of imaging results.
• Manage accurate acquisition of DICOM image data, including import and storage of images from external entities.
• Handle image distribution requests, prepare DICOM media, and securely provide image access to patients through a portal.
• Engage in quality improvement (QI), quality assurance (QA), and quality control (QC) programs while offering training and assistance to all radiology staff and system users.
• Safeguard patient data privacy in line with hospital guidelines and maintain adherence to workplace safety rules.

Qualifications

• Holder of a graduate degree or a 3-year diploma in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• A bachelor's degree in Applied Medical Sciences or Healthcare Management is an added advantage.
• At least three years of professional experience managing PACS and/or RIS within a medical institution.

Skills & Competencies

• Deep expertise in PACS and RIS systems alongside radiology workflows.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and office automation tools.
• Sound knowledge of quality management principles and standards.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written; Arabic language skills are beneficial.
• Excellent interdepartmental collaboration and teamwork capabilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
