Role Overview

The Picker role within the Marks & Spencer online grocery fulfillment team is critical to delivering an outstanding shopping experience. This position involves accurate selection, packing, and preparation of customer grocery orders, ensuring product quality, freshness, and timeliness for delivery or Click & Collect services. Close cooperation with store operations, customer service, and delivery teams is essential to meet service standards and maintain efficient inventory management.

Key Responsibilities

• Use handheld devices or mobile apps to accurately pick customer orders in line with service level agreements.
• Select items considering correct quantity, size, flavor, and specifications, prioritizing urgent deliveries as necessary.
• Ensure products—especially fresh, chilled, frozen, bakery, produce, and ready meals—are chosen for quality and freshness, verifying expiry dates and packaging condition following FIFO rules.
• Handle substitutions per company procedures and escalate any product unavailability or quality issues to team leadership.
• Carefully pack orders to safeguard product integrity during transport, separating chilled, frozen, ambient, and fragile goods appropriately.
• Prepare and label orders accurately for dispatch or customer collection, ensuring completeness before handover.
• Report discrepancies such as stock shortages or damages; assist with stock replenishment and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Adhere strictly to food safety, HACCP, and health regulations; maintain cold chain integrity and clean work environments.
• Meet daily targets for picking accuracy and productivity while contributing to a safe, tidy workplace.
• Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and support extra operational tasks during peak periods.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Between 1 to 3 years of experience in retail, supermarket, warehouse, e-commerce, grocery, or fulfillment operations, preferably with online grocery order picking.
• Familiarity with handheld scanning or digital picking tools and understanding of food handling and safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities; English proficiency required, Arabic is advantageous.
• Customer-focused mindset with physical capability to perform duties involving standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended durations.
• Flexible availability for shifts including weekends and public holidays.
