Role overview
The Physician Resource Planner plays a key role in organizing and carrying out activities that keep a strategic physician recruitment program operating effectively across the South Corridors. This position works closely with South Corridors and Provincial Medical Affairs teams, healthcare facility leaders, community partners, and physicians to understand healthcare priorities and turn them into practical recruitment plans.
The role calls for a strong grasp of business processes, along with the ability to use established practices and industry awareness to improve workflows within the South Corridors Medical Affairs portfolio. The work has a direct influence on physician recruitment activities and, ultimately, on healthcare delivery for Albertans in the South Corridors.

What the job involves
This position handles work governed by established procedures, routines, and precedents, while still requiring sound judgment in applying guidelines. Many decisions are complex and depend on knowledge of the organization, internal business processes, immigration requirements and procedures, CPSA policies, licensing rules and processes, AHS policies and procedures, and current best practices in recruitment.
The role influences both standard and non-standard processes and requires the ability to evaluate several options and choose the most effective approach. It also involves setting priorities and determining the most efficient way to complete assigned work.
Qualifications
A related post-secondary degree or diploma plus at least two years of related experience is required. An acceptable combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Additional qualifications
Successful candidates should bring strong leadership skills and the ability to build confidence and motivate large, diverse groups. Experience leading significant change and managing projects or programs with limited to moderate resources, risk, and complexity is important.
The role also requires the ability to monitor and control costs tied to one’s own work, and may include oversight of costs for moderate projects or programs. Working knowledge of office productivity tools and databases such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and Access is needed to respond to action items, draft and edit correspondence, and address stakeholder inquiries.
In addition, the position requires awareness of political sensitivities and varied stakeholder interests, as well as familiarity with financial policies, legislation related to Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (PPA) Acts, financial and human resource information systems, and expense claim systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Preferred background
Experience with Alberta Health Services systems and processes is an asset, along with prior exposure to recruitment or Medical Affairs. Knowledge of immigration and recruitment legislation, policies, and procedures is also preferred.
Employment conditions
This is a regular full-time role with a 1.00 FTE in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The schedule follows day shifts, with Saturdays and Sundays off. Each shift is 7.75 hours over a 2-week cycle with 10 shifts per cycle. A vehicle is not required for this position.
Compensation
The hourly pay range for this role is $31.64 to $54.36.
