Role Overview
This is a stable, long-term part-time opportunity that can be done remotely. The assignment is for a peer reviewer focused on political science manuscripts, and applicants are expected to review the requirements carefully before submitting accurate application details.
Required Qualifications
- A doctoral degree (PhD) or an equivalent advanced qualification in the relevant subject area is required.
- Candidates must have published at least 5 papers in SCI or SSCI journals within the last three years.
- A strong grasp of research methods and the ethical standards that apply within the discipline is necessary.
- Applicants should have excellent analytical ability and sound critical thinking skills.
- Clear written communication is important, especially for giving concise, useful, and constructive review comments.
- Good time management and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
- The role requires a strong commitment to confidentiality and impartial judgment.
- Previous work as a peer reviewer for academic journals is preferred.
- Familiarity with online manuscript submission and review platforms is useful.
Key Responsibilities
- Review manuscripts to judge whether they bring genuinely new ideas, findings, or perspectives to the field.
- Examine whether the research design and methodology are suitable, detailed, and rigorous enough to support reproducibility.
- Check that the paper includes relevant and current literature with proper citations.
- Assess whether the findings and conclusions are clearly presented, logically supported by the data, and meaningful to the discipline.
- Offer actionable feedback by pointing out weaknesses, missing elements, and any possible ethical issues.
- Provide a recommendation to the editor regarding whether the manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected.
Additional Information
This position is based in Qatar and supports remote work. It is a part-time engagement intended to be long term and stable.
