Role overview
Join a community-focused, locally owned pharmacy where you will support health, beauty, and convenience services while placing the customer at the centre of every interaction.
In this position, you will oversee pharmacy operations during your shift, offer consultations to customers and health professionals, work within your full professional scope, dispense medications, and help maintain the dispensary.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and assist every customer who approaches the pharmacy.
- Work in line with all federal, provincial, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Protect customer privacy, including confidentiality and consent handling.
- Provide guidance on prescription medicines as well as over-the-counter and behind-the-counter products.
- Deliver professional services to the fullest extent permitted by your scope and capability.
- Remain clearly identifiable to customers and the public.
- Verify that every dispensed prescription is accurate and clinically appropriate.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals within the circle of care to support customer treatment.
- Keep all records required by legislation, practice standards, and company policy.
Workflow and inventory management
- Maintain controlled access to the dispensary to protect both inventory and patient privacy.
- Monitor and update workflow queues on a daily basis.
- Check will-call bins regularly according to standard operating procedures.
- Inspect stock for expired inventory and take appropriate action.
- Oversee current inventory levels and medication orders from the wholesaler.
- Ensure all documentation and control requirements for substances covered under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and related regulations are met, including reporting to Health Canada and other regulatory authorities.
Operations
- Keep entry and pickup stations, counselling and waiting areas, and work islands in a professional condition that reflects the pharmacy well.
- Participate in financial reporting activities where required.
- Review and act on internal store communications through the in-store web system.
- Complete incident reports whenever medication, privacy, customer, or staff incidents occur.
Experience, skills, and qualifications
- Use independent judgment to resolve issues and make decisions.
- Plan, coordinate, and delegate tasks while coaching pharmacy team members.
- Help grow the business, lead by example, and support enterprise programs.
- Be strongly committed to outstanding customer service.
- Demonstrate excellent customer relationship skills and a professional manner.
- Show strong problem-solving ability, including developing and carrying out action plans.
- Bring solid computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy systems, which is an advantage.
- Follow all health and safety procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
- Complete required training and optional continuing education sessions as needed.
Compensation and employment details
The hiring rate for this role is $70.00 to $75.00 per hour.
Pay may vary depending on experience, knowledge, and the geographic area of the role. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
