About the role
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Pest Control Technician in Adelaide, South Australia. You will travel to residential and commercial properties to inspect for pest activity, confirm infestations, evaluate associated risks, and recommend suitable treatment options in accordance with company processes and safety requirements. The role also includes applying pest control treatments, setting up and servicing monitoring devices or SMART systems, and keeping detailed records of all work completed, including service reports and follow-up actions.
Key duties
- Inspect homes and business premises for pests and signs of infestation.
- Assess pest-related risks and determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Apply pest control products and solutions according to procedures and safety standards.
- Install, monitor, and maintain traditional devices as well as SMART pest systems.
- Record service activity, findings, and recommendations in accurate reports.
- Explain inspection results, treatments, and prevention advice to customers clearly.
- Handle vehicles, tools, equipment, and chemicals safely at all times.
- Work across indoor and outdoor environments and adapt to changing conditions.
Working conditions
The position may involve early morning starts, occasional overtime, and a mix of indoor and outdoor work. Tasks can include physically demanding work, use of equipment, and adherence to detailed treatment plans.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should either hold pest management certification or be willing to obtain it. A solid understanding of pest behaviour, control techniques, and safe chemical handling is important, along with knowledge of WHS procedures. Prior experience in pest control, hygiene services, trades, or field-based service work is helpful but not required, as training may be provided.
Additional requirements
You should have strong customer service and communication skills, be able to explain technical information in simple terms, and maintain a professional, client-focused approach with both residential and commercial customers. The role also calls for practical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors, plus the stamina to carry out manual tasks and follow structured treatment plans. Good planning, time management, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills are also needed. A valid driver’s licence, satisfactory background and reference checks, and the right to work in Australia are required.
