Job description
Role overview
This is a fixed-term, full-time parental leave cover role based in Whangārei, running until September 2027. The position starts in early August 2026 and sits within a team working to restore Kaipara Moana, with a strong focus on reducing sediment and improving water quality across the harbour and wider catchment.
You will play an important part in supporting the KMR leadership and board through a combination of governance coordination, executive support, and wider administrative assistance. The role is central to keeping meetings, reporting, follow-up actions, and key documentation running smoothly.
Governance and board support
Your work will include end-to-end coordination of governance activities for the KMR Joint Committee. This involves arranging meetings, preparing agendas and board papers, booking venues and catering, attending meetings, capturing minutes, tracking actions, and keeping forward work plans and action registers up to date. Some events may involve marae-based arrangements, so cultural awareness and flexibility are important.
Executive and personal administration support
You will also provide confidential, high-level administrative support to the Pou Tātaki. Typical tasks include diary coordination, travel and logistics arrangements, support with programme reporting, and helping connect activity across corporate functions.
Additional project and finance support
Alongside governance and executive duties, you will assist with broader administration as needed. This may include processing financial and contract documents, supporting payment workflows, and preparing project and financial reports.
Working arrangement and contract details
This is a fixed-term appointment covering parental leave through to September 2027. Although the role is advertised as full-time, there is openness to a reduced schedule of at least 30 hours per week for the right person. If you would prefer this arrangement, it should be mentioned in your cover letter.
About the team and kaupapa
The KMR programme works in partnership with landowners, iwi and hapū, community groups, and industry to support action that improves the health of Kaipara Moana Harbour. The work is designed to make a meaningful difference for people and the environment across the 600,000-hectare Kaipara Moana catchment in Northland and Auckland.
Application information
For more information, candidates may contact Sophie Bone, PA - Governance Support, by email. Applications close on 15 June 2026, and the organisation reviews applications as they come in, so the closing date may be brought forward. Email applications are not accepted.
Eligibility
Applicants must be New Zealand residents or citizens, or hold a valid New Zealand work visa.
Additional notes
