Job description
Role overview
Higgins is hiring a People & Performance Business Partner for its Auckland region. In this role, you will act as the key people partner for the region, working alongside the Region Manager and senior leaders to provide practical, trusted advice across the full employee journey.
This role suits someone who enjoys developing leaders, lifting team capability, and shaping a culture where people and performance both matter. You will bring strong commercial understanding and HR expertise to coach leaders, support sound people decisions, and contribute to a positive, high-performing regional environment.
What you will do
You will support and lead initiatives covering employee relations, talent management, organisational development, workforce planning, remuneration, people strategy, systems, and analytics. A key part of the job is also to promote diversity, inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement across the region.
Suitable background
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Senior Advisor who is ready to move into a Business Partner position, or for an established Business Partner seeking broader strategic involvement and exposure to complex employee relations and business projects.
About Higgins
Higgins is a major New Zealand construction and infrastructure company that builds and maintains transport networks, civil infrastructure, and community assets. The business places people at the centre of its work and promotes a culture of safety, collaboration, inclusion, and ongoing improvement, with opportunities for employees to grow and contribute meaningfully to the communities it serves.
Why join
This position offers a competitive salary and employer KiwiSaver contributions matched up to 4%. It is a standalone regional role with a high level of autonomy, supported by a capable national People & Performance team. The role is based in East Tamaki and includes on-site parking. You will also receive support from Talent Acquisition, Shared Services, and Learning & Development specialists, and you will be part of a supportive regional leadership group and the wider Higgins business. Additional staff benefits include access to retail discounts for you and your family.
Work environment
The role is based in Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, and is an on-site, full-time position.
Additional notes
The company encourages applications from people with experience in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or other operational environments, as this background is viewed positively for the role. Experience in a unionised setting is helpful but not mandatory. The organisation also emphasises a strong focus on better ways of working and continuous improvement.
