Job description
Who We Are
Overflow is a Silicon Valley technology company at Series B stage with a mission to encourage more giving around the world. It operates a B2B SaaS philanthropy platform that helps nonprofits, churches, and mission-driven organizations accept and manage donations through cash, stock, and crypto.
Supported by investors such as Uncork Capital, Craft Ventures, and Village Global, the company focuses on building secure and polished infrastructure that helps generosity grow at scale.
Founding Principles
The company was created on the belief that generosity changes people and communities. Guided by Proverbs 11:24 — “The world of the generous gets larger and larger” — it emphasizes integrity, stewardship, service, and excellence in how it works.
How We Work
The organization follows a flexible work approach. There is no universal requirement to be in the office every day, although some teams may use in-person collaboration based on their goals and operating needs.
The company maintains offices in Los Gatos, California, and Birmingham, Alabama for teamwork, coworking, meetings, and intentional face-to-face connection. Depending on the role and department, candidates should be open to occasional in-person meetings or team-specific onsite expectations.
About the Role
The People Operations Specialist is responsible for carrying out the systems, processes, and logistics that shape the employee journey at Overflow, from onboarding through recognition and offboarding. Working with the Head of People, this role helps ensure that the company’s values of generosity, gratitude, excellence, family, and relationship are reflected in everyday employee experiences.
This position combines structured HR execution with a warm, people-first approach. It requires someone who can keep HR operations running reliably while also serving as a trusted and approachable presence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Head of People to connect HR policies with employee experience initiatives.
- Support people programs and operational infrastructure across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting operations, onboarding, system administration, benefits, terminations, and offboarding.
- Update and manage employee status and related information in Notion and Gusto.
- Keep internal employee records accurate and up to date.
- Run the culture onboarding program so new hires are introduced to the company’s values from day one.
- Administer the general technology stack and ensure required software access, user setup, and payment-related coordination are maintained.
- Oversee recognition programs that make gratitude part of the company’s daily rhythm.
- Coordinate employee gifting and celebrations through Bonusly for birthdays, anniversaries, and achievements.
- Help reinforce the company’s culture pillars — gratitude, hospitality, excellence, family, generosity, and relationship — across the employee experience.
- Execute staff development and performance-focused gatherings led by the Head of People, including Team Intensives and SLT onsite sessions.
- Manage RSVPs, travel, agendas, bookings, and all onsite event logistics.
- Research, negotiate with, and coordinate vendors for catering, lodging, transport, audio/visual needs, and supplies.
- Own event budgets end to end, including matching invoices, receipts, and payments, plus post-event reconciliations and takeaways.
- Partner with the Head of People and the Chief of Staff of the Executive Office to deliver all-staff events such as staff retreats.
- Maintain proper stewardship and routine housekeeping of the People Team budget.
- Track, reconcile, and report event costs in Brex with care and accuracy.
- Work with Finance to ensure expense reports are submitted on time and in compliance with internal standards.
- Support IT operations across office locations, including keeping WiFi and related infrastructure functioning.
- Manage employee laptops and other electronic company property.
Required Qualifications
- At least 4 years of experience in People Operations, HR execution, recruiting, and/or employee engagement.
- Strong skills in organization and project coordination.
- Ability to build systems that combine structure with a human-centered approach.
- Demonstrated success working with senior leaders to implement people-related systems.
- Alignment with Overflow’s mission and values of generosity, gratitude, excellence, family, and relationship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in scaling people operations within fast-growing companies.
- Experience with recognition, celebration, and culture-building initiatives.
- Careful attention to detail, especially with departmental budget management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate executive strategy into daily practices.
- Creative and resourceful thinking when bringing company culture to life in practical ways.
Compensation Philosophy
The company uses Carta Total Compensation benchmarks to guide pay, with compensation shaped by role, location, and function. Final pay can vary depending on relevant skills, experience, interview performance, and market conditions.
Total compensation may also include equity, performance-based bonuses for eligible roles, and a full benefits package. As a Series B company, it views equity as an important part of long-term ownership and shared success.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive base pay with equity eligibility.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
- Generous paid time off and company holidays.
- Paid parental leave.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Dedicated mental health and therapy stipend.
- Team retreats and meaningful in-person gatherings throughout the year.
