Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is shared on behalf of a partner employer, which will handle all applications and follow-up steps. The hiring company is seeking a People Operations Generalist located in the United States.

The position is a central People Operations role that brings together HRIS administration, payroll execution, employee support, and recruiting coordination in a modern, tech-oriented setting. In this role, you will be the main owner of the HR system, keeping employee records accurate, improving workflows through automation, and optimizing processes throughout the employee journey. You will also ensure payroll is completed correctly and on time, while helping employees with everyday questions about HR policies, pay, and benefits. In addition, you will support hiring operations by using ATS and AI-assisted tools to make recruiting faster and improve the candidate experience. This is a practical, cross-functional role for someone who is detail-oriented, process-minded, and comfortable driving improvements that make HR operations more scalable.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the HRIS as the primary administrator, including setup, troubleshooting, user assistance, and audits to maintain clean and reliable data.
  • Build, refine, and maintain automated HR workflows that streamline processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Handle payroll from start to finish with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Prepare and review HR and payroll reports that help guide decision-making.
  • Respond to employee questions about policies, compensation, benefits, and general HR procedures.
  • Oversee employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, offboarding, and leave management.
  • Support administration of benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and insurance plans.
  • Assist with recruiting tasks such as sourcing, screening, interview scheduling, and candidate pipeline coordination.
  • Use ATS platforms and AI-enabled recruiting tools to improve hiring efficiency and workflow quality.
  • Help create HR policies, SOPs, and employee communications that support compliance efforts.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and workplace culture.
  • Protect confidential information and handle sensitive HR data securely and professionally.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources or People Operations.
  • Practical experience administering an HRIS, with Paylocity or a similar platform strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage payroll independently end to end.
  • Solid familiarity with HR technology, applicant tracking systems, and modern recruiting tools.
  • Comfort using AI tools and automation to improve HR productivity and workflows.
  • Background supporting recruiting activities such as sourcing, screening, and coordination.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, along with working knowledge of Google Workspace.
  • Excellent organizational ability, attention to detail, and capability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to move between day-to-day tasks and process improvements.
  • Professional judgment, integrity, and discretion when working with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field and/or an HR certification is preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay aligned to experience.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement savings options.
  • Paid time off and a flexible remote work setup.
  • Employee engagement and wellness programs.
  • Learning and growth opportunities for professional development.
  • Hands-on exposure to modern HR technology and AI-powered tools.
  • The chance to help build scalable HR systems and processes.

Additional information

The hiring process uses an AI-supported matching method to review applications quickly and objectively against the role’s core requirements. The system helps identify the best-fit candidates, and the resulting shortlist is passed to the employer’s internal team, which manages final decisions and next steps such as interviews or assessments.

By applying, you consent to the processing of your personal data for candidate evaluation and sharing relevant information with the hiring employer. This is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest and pre-contractual measures under applicable data protection laws, including GDPR.
