Role Overview

We are working with a partner company seeking a People & Culture Partner based in the United States. This full-time remote position involves ownership of the complete People Operations function within a growing remote US team. The role requires acting as the local expert in employee experience, supporting managers and staff across the entire employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment, including candidate sourcing, screening, interview management, reference checks, offers, and delivering positive candidate experiences.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job descriptions, design interview processes, and evaluation methods aligned to company needs.
  • Lead onboarding processes, including documentation, equipment setup, and HR system configuration to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
  • Administer employee lifecycle activities such as role changes, leave management, offboarding, maintaining employee files, and updating HR information systems.
  • Assist payroll tasks and address employee payroll inquiries, working closely with external payroll providers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws covering wage regulations, leave policies, employee classification, and required documentation.
  • Maintain and enhance HR policies and employee handbook content along with benefits administration and internal processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee and managerial inquiries regarding HR matters, employee relations, and workplace support.
  • Guide managers on performance evaluations, employee engagement strategies, and effective personnel management.
  • Design and implement remote work culture and engagement initiatives to foster connection and inclusion.
  • Manage HR systems, ensure data accuracy, prepare reports, and oversee vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with global People & Culture teams to implement company-wide programs tailored to US-specific requirements.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to People processes using technology, automation, and AI solutions.

Candidate Profile

  • 3 to 5 years of US-based experience in HR, People Operations, or People & Culture with a generalist focus, preferably within startups or scaling environments.
  • Hands-on experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, payroll support, and HR administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state US employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, payroll, and benefits platforms such as Gusto or BambooHR.
  • Ability to independently manage all People Operations aspects while collaborating with global teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
  • Clear, empathetic communication and strong interpersonal abilities at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills for sensitive employee situations.
  • Experience supporting remote or geographically distributed teams is advantageous.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools and automation to improve HR workflows and employee experience.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to coordinate with international colleagues, especially those in Australia.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset dedicated to building positive workplace experiences.
