About The Hoxton, Hamburg
The Hoxton is expanding into Hamburg with its second hotel in Germany. The property is being developed at Alter Wall and will include 188 rooms in different sizes, a spacious lobby bar, a ground-floor restaurant, a rooftop dining venue, and The Apartment, the brand’s dedicated meetings and events space.
The business is looking for an experienced People & Culture Manager to join the pre-opening team in Hamburg. In this role, you will lead recruitment before launch, help localise people policies for the property, and then support managers and teams with everyday HR matters to help the hotel run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted HR partner to managers and teams, offering practical advice and day-to-day guidance.
- Roll out and oversee people policies, processes, and procedures while making sure local employment law requirements are met.
- Strengthen the employer brand through recruitment approaches that attract talent and help build a pipeline for future succession needs.
- Partner with department heads to create development opportunities and career paths, with support from the Director of Learning & Development.
- Help keep the hotel’s culture strong by living The Hoxton values and fostering a workplace that is fair, safe, and inclusive.
- Lead engagement initiatives that motivate the team and help them feel empowered.
- Support the talent review cycle, including coffee chats, annual reviews, and wider talent and career discussions.
- Take charge of “Do More,” the global programme focused on working with local charities and community projects in the city.
- Assist managers with employee relations matters and performance management cases.
- Collaborate with central teams on European and global projects and rollouts, contributing ideas for effective and innovative solutions.
Candidate Profile

Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience across all areas of human resources in the hospitality sector.
- Previous experience opening a hotel is a strong advantage.
- Comfort handling high-volume recruitment.
- Experience dealing with legal and performance-related matters.
- Ability to support employees and managers with confidence, empathy, and practical problem-solving.
