The role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys hands-on HR work combined with process improvement, systems development, and supporting organisational change. You will help manage employee lifecycle activity, support recruitment and workforce planning, improve HR systems, and contribute to a positive employee experience across the organisation.

Recruitment, workforce planning and onboarding

  • Assist managers with all stages of hiring, including role advertising, candidate screening, interview planning, reference checks, and onboarding.
  • Work with hiring managers to review vacancies and staffing needs so they match business priorities and organisational goals.
  • Take part in interview panels and advise on fair recruitment practice and compliance requirements.
  • Keep candidate information and recruitment data accurate and up to date.
  • Support onboarding activity so new starters have a welcoming and well-organised introduction to the organisation.
  • Track probation periods and help managers complete probation reviews on time and effectively.

HR operations and employee lifecycle

  • Handle day-to-day employee administration, including contracts, personnel files, leave, transfers, and other employment changes.
  • Make sure employee data is processed correctly and in time to support payroll.
  • Serve as a first contact for staff and managers seeking guidance on policies, procedures, and employment-related matters.
  • Refer more complex employee relations or policy issues to the appropriate person or team.
  • Help develop, review, and roll out HR policies, procedures, and staff communications.
  • Support employee engagement, wellbeing, and organisational development activities.

HR systems, data and reporting

  • Maintain the Strandum HR system, keeping information accurate, secure, confidential, and compliant with GDPR.
  • Assist with introducing new HRIS modules, workflows, and system improvements.
  • Look for ways to streamline processes and get greater value from HR technology.
  • Create and update dashboards, reports, and people metrics to support informed decision-making.
  • Prepare regular workforce reporting on areas such as recruitment, turnover, absence, training, and other key indicators.
  • Support workforce planning by analysing HR data and trends.

Learning and development

  • Coordinate training administration, including scheduling, attendance tracking, and post-training evaluation.
  • Support the delivery of organisational learning programmes and help develop learning materials where needed.
  • Maintain training records and assist with compliance-related training requirements.

Teamwork and continuous improvement

  • Work closely with the wider People & Culture team to deliver a high-quality HR service across the organisation.
  • Build strong working relationships with employees, managers, and external partners to help foster an inclusive and supportive workplace.
  • Take part in departmental and organisational improvement work.
  • Contribute to projects linked to organisational change, people initiatives, and system development.
