Job description

Role overview

Leicestershire County Council is recruiting a Pensions Officer based at County Hall, Glenfield, Leics LE3 8RA. This permanent role is open only to internal applicants and is offered on a 37-hour working week.

The salary range is £25,995 to £34,359 per annum, with pay protection pro-rata for part-time hours. A pay award is pending. The closing date is 19 July 2026, and interviews are to be confirmed.

Main purpose of the role

You will support the administration and onboarding of employers onto the i-Connect Pensions Portal, help ensure a smooth transition of i-Connect responsibilities for fund employers, prepare complex reports for upload, and work with system suppliers to resolve portal-related issues.

Key duties

  • Set up scheme employers on the i-Connect Pensions Portal.
  • Support fund employers during handover of i-Connect responsibilities and help address any problems that come up.
  • Format and prepare detailed i-Connect reports for submission.
  • Work with external system providers to troubleshoot and resolve i-Connect system issues.

Requirements and experience

To be considered, you need NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification such as four GCSEs at grades A-C or 4-9. You should also have experience working with the Local Government Pension Scheme, alongside practical experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

Good knowledge of general office procedures is also required. Experience with a pension administration system would be an advantage.

Additional requirements

You must be willing to demonstrate commitment to the council’s values and its approach to accessible, inclusive services for all residents during the selection process. Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with disabilities, and the council identifies as a Disability Confident Employer.

Flexible working arrangements may be discussed depending on the needs of the role and service. Options may include part-time hours, job sharing, term-time working, flexible start and finish times, and hybrid working.

Application process and terms

Applicants must submit a supporting statement showing how they meet the criteria in the About You section. Applications without this statement will not be assessed and will be rejected.

The employer may close the vacancy before the advertised date if enough suitable applications are received, so early submission is advised. If you experience technical problems or need the application pack in another format, you can contact the Employee Service Centre on 0300 3030222, option 2, or raise a support ticket through the online portal.

By applying, you agree to the organisation’s Terms and Conditions.

About the employer

Leicestershire County Council says it is focused on improving residents’ lives and working with communities and partners to deliver public services that help make Leicestershire a great place to live and work. The council values the contribution of its employees and aims to provide purposeful work where ideas are welcomed.
