About the role
This is a people leadership role within payroll operations at Safeguard Global, designed for someone who can guide a team while keeping payroll delivery accurate, compliant, and on schedule. The position focuses on day-to-day query handling, smooth processing for clients, coordination with internal and external partners, invoice generation, and making sure worker payments are completed correctly and on time. Key responsibilities
- Oversee the daily running, output, and overall effectiveness of the payroll team.
- Lead, coach, motivate, and direct team members to ensure strong performance.
- Support employee development through training, performance management, and ongoing growth initiatives.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews in line with agreed standards.
- Manage and review payroll operations, including processing, payments, forecasts, management reporting, tax submissions, and statutory filings.
- Help improve payroll procedures, systems, and internal controls.
- Support the Line Manager in reviewing payroll trends, reports, and projections over the long term.
- Ensure payroll activities meet financial, legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Create team plans, individual action plans, and measurable performance goals aligned with business objectives.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and proposals that support accurate payroll delivery and informed decision-making.
- Delegate work effectively while keeping oversight, accountability, and performance checks in place.
- Demonstrate professionalism, commitment, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
- Maintain accurate records related to payroll, finance, and connected activities.
- Build productive working relationships with colleagues, vendors, clients, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Meet agreed individual and team targets while handling assigned workload efficiently.

- Take part in special projects and carry out other duties as needed for the role.
