Where you'll work
Job description
Role overview
Join Findex’s New Zealand Payroll Solutions team in a position where you’ll take ownership of your own client portfolio and contribute to a high-performing payroll service. This opportunity suits someone who enjoys working with technical payroll matters, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering dependable service across a varied client base.
The role is ideally based in Dunedin or Invercargill, although other locations may be considered. It offers full-time hours with part-time flexibility available, along with hybrid working. For an experienced payroll bureau professional, fully remote working may also be an option.
What you’ll do
- Handle payroll processing and advisory support from start to finish for a medium to large portfolio of New Zealand clients, keeping results accurate, timely, and aligned with local legislation.
- Serve as a reliable contact for client payroll questions and requirements, while helping improve processes and strengthen service delivery.
- Work closely with colleagues in a team setting, sharing your expertise, supporting consistency in workflows, and stepping in where assistance is needed.
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on background in delivering end-to-end payroll services in a multi-client or similarly complex environment.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand payroll rules and compliance, including the Holidays Act and PAYE responsibilities.
- Confidence using several payroll platforms; experience with Datapay, iPayroll, or MYOB Business would be beneficial, along with solid Microsoft Office capability.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to juggle several clients and deadlines each day.
- Clear communicator who can build trust, explain payroll topics in simple terms, and approach challenges with a practical, solutions-oriented attitude.
Benefits and culture
- Flexible, supportive workplace with the option to work from home a few days each week and additional flexibility when needed.
- Backed by a nationwide team that values trust, collaboration, and strong outcomes.
- Exposure to a wide mix of industries, organisations, and payroll systems, offering variety and room to broaden your professional network and capability.
- A people-first organisation with wellbeing initiatives, volunteer days, medical insurance, referral rewards, and career development pathways.
- Ongoing learning and development support, including added assistance for external study relevant to your role.
