About the company

Role overview
This position offers the chance to join the Global Payroll Operations team and make a direct impact in international payroll operations. The role is centered on Australian payroll and is suited to someone who enjoys ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous process improvement in a fast-moving global environment.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the payroll subject matter expert for the assigned country.
- Build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders across Payroll Implementation, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
- Run payroll end to end, including statutory filings, handling exceptions, approvals, disbursements, and compliance activities.
- Protect data accuracy and overall payroll quality.
- Prepare payroll journals and carry out reconciliations.
- Track and deliver against KPIs and SLAs.
- Identify, design, and roll out process improvements.
- Coach and assist payroll specialists as needed.
- Step in for regional managers during absences.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience with end-to-end payroll processing, either in-house or through a payroll service provider.
- Strong understanding of payroll best practices.
- Comfort using productivity tools such as Excel and Google Workspace.
- Analytical thinking and strong troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international, largely asynchronous environment.
- A natural drive to improve productivity and streamline work.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Remote work experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
Working style and practical details
You will report to the Manager, Global Payroll Operations, and be part of the Payroll team. The role is based in Australia, with a start date as soon as possible. The company works asynchronously, so you are expected to plan your work around life rather than around meetings, take ownership, and act proactively.
Application process
- Initial conversation with a recruiter.
- Interview with the hiring manager.
- Discussion with team members without managers present.
- Bar Raiser interview.
- Verification of previous employment.
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary range for this full-time role is AUD 102,100 to AUD 114,900. Compensation is determined by role level, location, experience, transferable skills, and business needs. The company follows a location-based global compensation approach and emphasizes pay equity. Benefits and perks include the ability to work from anywhere, flexible paid time off, flexible working hours, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, mental health support, stock options, a learning budget, home office budget and IT equipment, and support for local in-person social activities or co-working spaces.
Additional information

If an updated CV is not available, a LinkedIn profile may be shared instead. The company welcomes applicants from under-represented groups and supports accommodations during the hiring process. Applicants may be asked to share pronouns during interviews and can optionally complete an anonymous demographic questionnaire.
AI and culture
The company values AI as a helpful tool, while still placing importance on human creativity and authenticity. Candidates who can balance innovation with real expertise and practical experience are encouraged to apply.
