About the Role

The APAC and LATAM Payroll Specialist will oversee the accurate and punctual processing of payroll for multiple countries within Asia Pacific and Latin America regions. Based in the US, this role serves as the primary liaison among local HR teams, finance departments, external payroll vendors, and employees, ensuring adherence to local laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage payroll-related email communications and address inquiries about international payroll activities.
  • Serve as the main contact point for payroll questions from employees and internal teams.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll cycles for employees across APAC and LATAM in partnership with third-party payroll providers.
  • Examine and verify payroll inputs such as hires, terminations, bonuses, overtime, benefits, and tax information.
  • Conduct gross-to-net salary validations and reconcile payroll reports to guarantee correctness and timeliness of payments.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including taxation, social security, and pension obligations locally.
  • Keep abreast of updates and changes in payroll legislation within the assigned countries.
  • Maintain precise employee data within HR and payroll systems.
  • Assist with audits and payroll-related reporting as needed.
  • Collaborate with Finance regarding payroll funding, journal entries, and monthly reporting deadlines.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries for semi-monthly and monthly international payroll periods.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and perform BlackLine evaluations for global entities during month-end closing.
  • Support payroll process improvements and system enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing multi-country payroll, preferably covering both APAC and LATAM areas.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws in major countries such as China, Japan, Singapore, and Mexico.
  • Experience collaborating with third-party payroll service providers.
  • High level of attention to detail and aptitude for managing confidential data sensitively.
  • Proficient with Excel and familiar with payroll or HRIS platforms like UKG, Workday, or ADP.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse teams.
  • Capable of working independently while managing deadlines across multiple time zones.

Additional Preferred Attributes

  • Certification in payroll functions.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll system implementations or migrations.
  • Knowledge of international mobility and expatriate payroll management.
