Role overview

Konnexx Services Ltd is looking for a Payroll Officer in Kingston, Jamaica. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Officer, this role focuses on handling contractor pay administration, checking hours and deductions, keeping payroll and work-order records accurate, and supporting related accounting tasks.

Key duties

  • Run payroll for contractors and ensure payments are processed correctly.
  • Review and organize contractors’ work orders and match completed jobs with the main reports.
  • Work out net pay after all deductions, taxes, and withholdings.
  • Verify that payroll records and tax documents are complete and accurate.
  • Maintain general ledger entries and payroll files, including overtime earnings and holiday deductions.
  • Handle payroll-related queries and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Take part in payroll audits and help contractors stay compliant with payroll and tax regulations.
  • Prepare pay advice slips and send them by email to contractors.
  • Maintain accounting files, records, schedules, and the invoice submission tracker.
  • Request remittance reports for financial statement updates covering Jamaica and the Caribbean.
  • Track purchase orders and prepare invoices in QuickBooks.
  • Compile detailed client invoices using work-order information.
  • Produce the Tools Usage Report from work orders.
  • Prepare quotations as needed.

Knowledge and competencies

The successful candidate should have a solid grasp of payroll administration, statutory deduction calculations, and basic accounting principles and practices. Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, discipline, integrity, focus, and self-motivation are important for this role. The position also requires flexibility to work longer hours when business needs demand it, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting focus, or have at least two years of relevant experience in a similar role.
