Role overview
An established client in Perth’s inner suburbs is looking for a seasoned Payroll Officer to become part of a busy, collaborative payroll function. In this position, you will report to the Payroll Manager and help deliver accurate, on-time payroll processing across several Australian payrolls within a multi-entity setup. The assignment is an initial 12-month contract, with a chance to move into a permanent role for the right person.
Key responsibilities
- Handle end-to-end payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles across multiple entities.
- Keep employee payroll data up to date, including onboarding, exits and other employee changes.
- Process leave, allowances, overtime, deductions and other payroll corrections.
- Make sure payroll operations align with the relevant laws, awards, enterprise agreements and internal policies.
- Answer payroll-related questions from employees and internal stakeholders quickly and professionally.
- Support payroll reconciliations, reporting, superannuation administration and payroll tax obligations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll tasks, including STP and compliance reporting.
- Help identify and implement improvements to payroll procedures and system capability.
Candidate profile
- Prior experience working as a Payroll Officer in an Australian payroll environment.
- Solid knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and compliance standards.
- Background handling payroll in a high-volume, fast-moving setting.
- Exposure to multi-entity payroll operations is highly desirable.
- Experience with ADP and Kronos would be a strong advantage.
- Excellent accuracy, practical problem-solving ability and comfort working independently.
- Self-driven, hands-on and a strong communicator.
