Job description
Role Overview
We seek a skilled Payroll Officer to manage comprehensive payroll duties within a government organisation in Sydney, working full-time at 35 hours per week. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the entire payroll procedure from calculation to payment processing, ensuring utmost precision and adherence to pertinent legislation. This position calls for identifying opportunities to enhance payroll systems for better efficiency. Additionally, the role involves addressing and resolving payroll-related questions and conflicts from staff and other stakeholders promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle calculation of payroll, tax deductions, filing, and remuneration disbursement with accuracy.
- Explore and execute improvements for more efficient payroll operations.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of Australian payroll laws, Local Awards, and interpretation of multiple Enterprise Agreements (EAs).
- Respond effectively to payroll inquiries raised by employees and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience as a Payroll Officer, preferably in the public sector.
- Capable of managing large payroll volumes in a demanding work environment.
- Strong grasp of payroll-related legal and tax compliance requirements.
- Competency in using payroll management software systems.
