Job description
Overview
A well-established and expanding payroll bureau near Lewes is seeking a skilled Payroll Administrator to join their permanent full-time team. This role offers a salary up to £30,000 and hybrid work arrangements, with three days in-office and two days remote per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the complete payroll process for a variety of clients with different pay cycles.
- Carefully entering and verifying payroll data for accuracy.
- Reconciling payroll details and generating reports along with payslips.
- Preparing payroll journals and handling PAYE reconciliations.
- Creating and submitting BACS payment files for payroll outflows.
- Managing pension auto-enrolment processes and ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Preparing pension scheme submissions and updating member records accordingly.
- Communicating effectively with clients, HMRC, pension providers, and internal teams.
- Keeping informed on current payroll regulations and best operational practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven payroll administration experience within a bureau setting.
- Capability to manage multiple payrolls simultaneously while meeting firm deadlines.
- Thorough understanding of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments.
- Ability to manually calculate relevant deductions including tax, NI, pensions, and statutory amounts.
- Knowledge of statutory family leave, statutory sick pay, salary sacrifice schemes, and auto-enrolment procedures.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Competency in intermediate-level Excel and confident use of payroll software.
- Proactive, flexible, and adaptable work approach.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required due to the job location.
