Role Overview
The Payments Operations Manager (also referred to as Manager - Service Operations) is responsible for keeping payment and service operations running effectively across system settings, vendor coordination, payroll and WPS activity, and card operations. The position focuses on dependable service delivery, regulatory adherence, process optimization, and building operations that can scale.
This position also requires hands-on familiarity with the Central Bank of the UAE portals, including Aani and WPS. The role is based at Silicon Oasis HQ in Dubai, UAE, reports to the Head of Operations, and is a permanent, field-based role.
Service Configuration and System Controls
- Take ownership of service setup and configuration across internal and external platforms.
- Maintain accurate product and service settings, including limits, fees, and control parameters.
- Work with technology and product teams on configuration updates, feature improvements, and releases.
- Keep configuration records, standard operating procedures, and change logs current and well documented.
Third-Party Coordination and SLA Oversight
- Serve as the main contact for external partners such as processors, payroll providers, WPS agents, and other vendors.
- Set, monitor, and enforce service-level agreements with third-party providers.
- Carry out regular service reviews, assess performance, and manage escalations when needed.
- Drive issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions together with partners.
Payroll and WPS Operations
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and WPS submissions in line with UAE Central Bank and MOHRE requirements.
- Ensure payroll validation and salary file submission are completed on time.
- Manage payroll exceptions, failed submissions, and refunds.
- Coordinate with the Central Bank, WPS processors, corporate clients, and internal teams to keep payroll operations running smoothly.
Card Operations
- Manage daily card activity, including issuance, activation, transaction handling, and chargebacks.
- Handle card lifecycle tasks such as replacements, renewals, blocking, and unblocking.
- Work with card processors, card schemes such as Jaywan, Visa, and Mastercard, and other vendors on operational issues and improvement requests.
- Resolve card exceptions, disputes, and escalations with support from internal and external stakeholders.
Required Experience and Competencies
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a closely related discipline. Prior experience with card processing platforms, payroll and WPS systems, and operational workflows is important. A strong working knowledge of card networks such as Visa, Mastercard, and Jaywan, along with third-party processors, is expected.
Strong documentation ability is essential, including the preparation of SOPs, process maps, and operational manuals. The role also calls for excellent attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple priorities, and the discipline to work to strict deadlines.
Core Strengths Needed
- Ability to manage operations end to end while maintaining service reliability and driving ongoing improvement.
- Capability to handle system-level settings such as fees, limits, controls, and other operational parameters.
- Experience in vendor management, SLA monitoring, escalation handling, and timely resolution of issues.
- Understanding of card lifecycle management, processing, chargebacks, settlements, and scheme compliance.
- Strong knowledge of payroll workflows, WPS file handling, reconciliations, exceptions, and regulatory rules.
- Comfort working closely with Technology, Product, Compliance, Finance, and outside partners.
- Ability to improve efficiency through automation, standardization, and scalable operating models.
- Clear communication, structured documentation, and the ability to guide operations initiatives and teams.
