Job description
Position overview
This contract role is focused on guiding customers away from older independent sales organizations (ISOs) and third-party payment gateways and onto an integrated payments platform. It sits within a vertical SaaS environment and calls for strong payments knowledge, commercial judgement, and the ability to work closely with clients throughout a complex transition.
The right person will bring substantial merchant account experience along with hands-on understanding of how to move payment systems without interrupting business operations.
Key responsibilities
- Own payment migration projects from start to finish, moving customers from legacy ISOs and external gateways into the company’s integrated payments product.
- Work with customers to map their current payment setup and build migration plans that reduce disruption and downtime.
- Assess merchant statements and prepare proposals that preserve cost efficiency after migration while protecting company margin.
- Coordinate across clients and internal product, engineering, and customer success teams to keep everyone aligned.
- Act as the main day-to-day contact through the migration, maintain strong customer relationships, and spot possible future sales opportunities.
Qualifications and experience
- At least 3 years in a payments-related position such as fintech, merchant services, or SaaS, including direct experience with system migrations.
- Strong working knowledge of ISOs, payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, and Adyen, and merchant account services.
- Comfort with API-driven payment integrations and the technical sequence of payment processing.
- Good understanding of PCI-DSS, security requirements, and relevant industry regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical payment topics in clear customer-friendly terms.
- Independent, contractor-style working approach with the ability to manage several timelines at once and deliver outcomes in a remote setting.
Preferred background
- Experience working with vertical SaaS platforms in sectors such as healthcare, real estate, or legal services.
- Practical experience using data migration tools and CRM systems.
- A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience in payments.
Contract details
The engagement length is flexible and depends on migration schedules and customer volume. Compensation is project-based and includes performance incentives linked to successful migration results.
The role is remote from Australia and may require occasional travel.
