Job Summary

The role of Patient Transporter involves the safe, timely, and accurate movement of patients, medical equipment, and related items within hospital settings. This position requires competent handling of patients across all age groups and effective communication with healthcare staff to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients safely and securely, managing IVs, drainage tubes, and other medical apparatus.
• Use wheelchairs and approved equipment to move patients efficiently to designated locations.
• Ensure patient comfort by providing blankets, maintaining modesty, and engaging only in appropriate conversations.
• Communicate clearly with nursing staff, clinicians, technicians, reception, and dispatch personnel.
• Alert nursing staff immediately if any patient distress or equipment issues arise.
• Maintain transportation equipment, reporting any repair needs promptly.
• Adhere strictly to federal, state, and JCAHO regulatory standards and facility HIPAA confidentiality policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior experience in customer service is mandatory.

Work Schedule and Location

Opportunities are available for both full-time and part-time roles with morning and afternoon shifts. Hours and days may vary; further details will be provided during interviews. This role is based at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center, 5 Infirmary Circle, Mobile, AL 36652.

Compensation

The position offers a fixed hourly wage of $13.50.
