Role overview
Sentara Health is hiring a full-time Patient Care Specialist for SMG Surgery Specialists Leigh. This position supports a physician office by handling non-clinical administrative work that helps patients receive smooth and timely care. The role focuses on maintaining a positive patient experience while assisting with everyday office operations.
Work schedule
This is a first-shift daytime role. The expected schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
What you will do
In this position, you will manage a range of complex office tasks that support care delivery in a medical practice. Core duties include answering incoming calls, arranging patient appointments, and responding to patient inquiries. The role requires close coordination with the rest of the care team to help ensure patients receive efficient and attentive service.
Education and experience
A high school diploma is required. An associate degree or higher may be accepted instead of the stated experience requirement. Candidates should have at least 3 years of customer service experience and 1 year of experience in one or more of the following areas: health insurance plans, medical records data, medical terminology, registration, scheduling, or third-party payers.
