Overview
WA Country Health Service is looking for a motivated Patient Care Assistant to join Wyalkatchem Health Service in Wyalkatchem, Western Australia. The role may be offered on a permanent or fixed-term basis, either part-time or full-time, with working hours varying across the fortnight. Extension and/or permanency may be available.
What you'll do
- Support clients with personal care tasks under the guidance of a registered nurse.
- Help with safe lifting, repositioning, and general handling of patients.
- Assist with serving patient meals while following the Department of Health food-handling requirements.
- Carry out daily cleaning of assigned areas in line with health service standards, procedures, and policies.
- Manage laundering of hospital linen.
- Perform additional duties as needed.

Eligibility and conditions
For permanent appointments, applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or hold a visa that allows them to live and work in Australia indefinitely. For fixed-term appointments, a valid working visa is required.
This role requires a valid Western Australian Working With Children check. Candidates must also complete criminal records screening, integrity checks, and a satisfactory pre-employment health assessment (PEHA). Any offer of employment depends on the PEHA being satisfactory and confirming the candidate can meet the inherent requirements of the position.
This recruitment may also be used to fill similar vacancies within the health service. If the selected candidate declines the offer or leaves the role, another suitable applicant from this process may be appointed. These options remain available for 12 months from the date the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
