Job description
Role overview
This remote healthcare operations role is focused on helping patients secure access to essential, often life-sustaining medications through patient assistance programs. Acting as a central point of coordination, you will work with patients, providers, pharmacies, and manufacturers to keep applications accurate, complete, and moving forward without delays.
The position blends clinical awareness, administrative accuracy, and patient support. You will oversee the full workflow for assistance applications, including document collection, eligibility review, submission tracking, and renewal monitoring. A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail is important because the work directly supports continuity of care and helps reduce interruptions in treatment.
Accountabilities
- Handle the end-to-end process for Patient Assistance Program applications, including submission, status tracking, and renewal management through the designated healthcare systems.
- Gather and confirm patient materials such as proof of income, consent documentation, and household details so the application package is complete and compliant.
- Work with healthcare providers to secure signatures, prescriptions, and approvals within required timelines.
- Keep patients informed throughout the process, explaining requirements, progress updates, and the next steps they need to take.
- Monitor refill timelines and begin renewal steps early to avoid any gap in medication access.
- Coordinate with pharmacies, care teams, and manufacturer support programs to support accurate medication fulfillment and ongoing care.
- Document all activity in EHR and workflow tools while following healthcare regulations and internal procedures.
Requirements
- An active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is mandatory.
- Background in healthcare, clinical work, or medical administration is required.
- Comfort using Electronic Health Record systems such as NextGen or comparable platforms.
- Good knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation practices.
- Strong organizational ability to manage several workflows and meet firm deadlines.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills with a compassionate, patient-first approach.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setup while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
- Experience with patient assistance programs, pharmacy coordination, or prior authorization processes is an added advantage.
- English/Spanish bilingual ability is beneficial.
Benefits
- 100% remote work with flexibility.
- Hourly contract pay in the range of $18 to $19 per hour.
- Potential for renewal and longer-term engagement.
- Structured onboarding and training support.
- Purpose-driven work that improves access to care for patients.
- Opportunities to grow professionally within healthcare operations.
- A collaborative and encouraging team environment.
