Role overview
Chronic Care Staffing is hiring a compassionate and highly organized Certified Medical Assistant to support patients as a Patient Assistance Program Coordinator. This remote position helps uninsured, underinsured, and underserved individuals access important prescription medicines through manufacturer assistance programs.
As the main point of contact for PAP coordination, you will handle application processing, patient follow-up, provider communication, and renewal monitoring so that patients can continue therapy without interruptions. The role suits someone who enjoys healthcare administration, patient advocacy, and keeping complex workflows moving smoothly.
Schedule and employment terms
This is a full-time remote role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States. The position is contract-based with an initial 13-week term and renewal options.
Pay is offered at $18.00 to $19.00 per hour.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and monitor manufacturer patient assistance program applications.
- Work within the Med Data platform to manage application steps and status updates.
- Review submissions carefully to confirm that all supporting documents are complete and accurate.
- Contact patients to collect required materials such as proof of income, household details, income attestation, and consent forms.
- Explain application requirements and keep patients informed about progress and next steps.
- Coordinate with providers and prescribers to secure wet signatures, electronic approvals, and prescription records.
- Maintain effective communication between provider offices and pharmacy teams.
- Manage a monthly workload of roughly 120 active applications and renewals.
- Track refill timing and pickup dates for medications.
- Begin renewal follow-up at least 90 days before a medication or program expires to avoid treatment gaps.
- Communicate with pharmacy hubs and care teams about medication shipments and deliveries.
- Support smooth coordination among patients, providers, pharmacies, and manufacturers.
- Keep documentation current in NextGen, Med Data, and future eClinicalWorks systems.
- Scan, upload, and file records according to company standards.
- Follow OSV, FTCA, and all relevant healthcare compliance requirements.
Required qualifications
- Active Certified Medical Assistant credential.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Comfort using electronic health record systems.
- Solid understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong organization and documentation skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to handle several deadlines and workflows at once.
- Capability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a patient-centered mindset.
Preferred background
- Hands-on experience with NextGen EHR.
- Willingness to learn and transition to eClinicalWorks.
- Prior exposure to patient assistance programs.
- Knowledge of pharmacy processes, care coordination, or prior authorization work.
- Experience supporting underserved patient groups.
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication ability.
- Experience using medical interpretation or translation services.
