Role Overview
The position of Pastry Commis is a full-time, on-site role located in Riyadh. The individual will engage in assisting the preparation, baking, and finishing of an assortment of pastries, desserts, and baked items, operating under the supervision of senior kitchen personnel. Responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the pastry area, and ensuring correct storage and labeling of products. Adherence to standardized recipes and support of quality presentation standards are essential, along with compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols. Collaboration with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and to meet production schedules is also a key aspect of this role.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic pastry and baking abilities including dough preparation, mixing, and finishing methods.
- Understanding of food safety practices, hygiene standards, and proper ingredient handling and storage.
- Capability to accurately follow recipes, standard operating procedures, and instructions from senior chefs.
- Strong attention to detail complemented by effective time management and organizational skills within a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Enthusiasm for learning, openness to constructive feedback, and a desire to enhance pastry techniques and product knowledge.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a team, maintain clear communication, and contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
- Previous pastry kitchen or bakery experience is beneficial but not required.
- Possession of culinary or pastry certification, or related vocational education is preferred.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as per operational requirements.
