Partnerships Specialist – Government Affairs

Role Overview

As a Partnerships Specialist within Government Affairs at Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), you will play a vital role in managing and fostering strategic relationships with the Singapore Government, public bodies, and associated industry organizations. This position is central to executing HMGICS's public policy and government engagement strategy, supporting new business ventures, and overseeing defense-related activities. The position involves both high-level strategy and hands-on involvement to ensure alignment of business objectives with regulatory and policy frameworks.

Main Responsibilities

• Track and analyze developments in political, regulatory, and geopolitical environments to identify risks and business opportunities for HMGICS.
• Work collaboratively across departments to formulate policy stances on critical topics such as electric vehicles, autonomous technology, and defense initiatives.
• Build and sustain productive relationships with government entities, industry associations, and foreign delegations, representing the company's interests professionally.
• Engage actively within industry groups and manage joint positions with internal teams to support market-specific initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with Legal, Public Relations, and other Business Units regarding legislative and regulatory matters.
• Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Invitations to Tender (ITTs), ensuring coordinated input from all relevant teams.
• Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, procurement authorities, and defense sector stakeholders—including military officials—to clarify and deliver on product requirements.
• Work with business partners and global policy teams at headquarters to design and implement strategies that shape public policy in favor of HMGICS.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree (discipline open).
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years' relevant experience in government, public sector, or related roles.
• Hands-on involvement or direct experience within defense sales, military organizations, or technologies involving defense equipment is a significant plus.
• Superior communication abilities and proven effectiveness in engaging diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capacity to navigate ambiguity and structure novel problem spaces as they arise.
• Ability to balance strategic policy thinking with operational execution.
• Strong knowledge of the defense procurement process and associated regulations both locally and internationally.
• Familiarity with contract management and procurement processes.
