About the Role
Join Park Place Seniors Living, Inc. as a Part-Time Maintenance Worker at our Morgan Creek Seniors Community in Surrey, British Columbia. This role involves maintaining the safety, operability, and appearance of the building and grounds in support of a caring environment for seniors.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and document required building and grounds inspections promptly.
- Maintain all building and site equipment in safe, functional condition.
- Manage maintenance tasks using the Maintenance Care software, including preventative maintenance and work order execution.
- Paint vacant suites and perform touch-ups in common areas to maintain aesthetics.
- Prioritize repair needs and perform routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance tasks.
- Support the facility's fire safety program effectively.
- Ensure walkways, patios, and exit areas are free of snow and ice during winter, including shoveling, sanding, and salting.
- Work primarily Monday through Friday, or according to schedule set by the Site Leader.
Qualifications & Experience
- Completion of high school education is required.
- At least two years of relevant maintenance experience is preferred; equivalencies will be considered.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, coupled with good organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Competence in operating maintenance-related equipment.
- In-depth understanding of building and fire codes applicable to continuing care homes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate respectfully.
- Physical capability to perform required job duties.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans and codes is advantageous.
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
- WHMIS training and occupational health and safety certifications are beneficial.
Compensation & Additional Information
Wages for this position range from $28 to $35 per hour based on qualifications, education, training, and experience.
