Job description

About the Role

Join Park Place Seniors Living, Inc. as a Part-Time Maintenance Worker at our Morgan Creek Seniors Community in Surrey, British Columbia. This role involves maintaining the safety, operability, and appearance of the building and grounds in support of a caring environment for seniors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and document required building and grounds inspections promptly.
  • Maintain all building and site equipment in safe, functional condition.
  • Manage maintenance tasks using the Maintenance Care software, including preventative maintenance and work order execution.
  • Paint vacant suites and perform touch-ups in common areas to maintain aesthetics.
  • Prioritize repair needs and perform routine, scheduled, and emergency maintenance tasks.
  • Support the facility's fire safety program effectively.
  • Ensure walkways, patios, and exit areas are free of snow and ice during winter, including shoveling, sanding, and salting.
  • Work primarily Monday through Friday, or according to schedule set by the Site Leader.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completion of high school education is required.
  • At least two years of relevant maintenance experience is preferred; equivalencies will be considered.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, coupled with good organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Competence in operating maintenance-related equipment.
  • In-depth understanding of building and fire codes applicable to continuing care homes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and communicate respectfully.
  • Physical capability to perform required job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans and codes is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office.
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
  • WHMIS training and occupational health and safety certifications are beneficial.

Compensation & Additional Information

Wages for this position range from $28 to $35 per hour based on qualifications, education, training, and experience.
