Overview
NAIT is looking for a Parking Enforcement Officer to support Parking Services and help ensure parking rules are followed across campus. This position contributes to a positive experience for visitors, students, staff, and other customers by combining enforcement duties with helpful service and clear communication.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor of Parking Enforcement, this role involves patrolling parking areas, issuing warnings and citations when parking violations occur, directing traffic when needed, checking parking machines, equipment, and related facilities, and handling day-to-day parking service support. The position also requires assisting customers with wayfinding, information, and the use of parking tools and technology.
Working Conditions
This is a casual position scheduled to end on or before June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension. The role requires flexibility to work a range of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities
- Monitor parking zones on foot and by vehicle to support enforcement of parking regulations.
- Issue warnings and citations for parking-related violations.
- Deliver strong customer service while dealing with the public.
- Carry out basic maintenance and troubleshooting on parking enforcement tools and technology.
- Answer routine questions and explain department services, procedures, and policies.
- Share customer comments, complaints, and service concerns with a supervisor.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.
- Comfort using computers and systems such as Microsoft Office, License Plate Recognition (LPR), T2 Parking Systems, and the HONK mobile payment app.
- Relevant certificates.
- Some experience in retail or a customer service setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong public-facing customer service skills and professional interpersonal communication.
- Careful attention to detail for note-taking and report writing.
- Solid oral and written communication ability.
- Competence with computers, Microsoft Office, and parking-related technologies.
- Physical stamina to walk more than 10 kilometres per day or sit/drive for up to 7 hours per day.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
- Good command of English in speaking, reading, and writing.
Compensation and Employment Terms
The hourly pay range for this role is $17.34 to $23.29.
In addition to base pay, the position includes 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay.
This position is classified as Customer Service Representative I - 40 and is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
