About the Role
An automotive putty painter specializes in preparing automotive body surfaces to achieve a flawless finish for painting. This involves repairing dents, applying putty fillers to damaged areas, sanding the surfaces smooth, applying primers, and masking sections to protect unwanted areas during paint application.
Main Responsibilities
- Repair dents and imperfections on vehicle body surfaces to restore structural and aesthetic integrity.
- Apply body filler (putty) to cavities and uneven sections for smooth surface preparation.
- Sand down putty and surrounding areas to achieve an even and defect-free finish.
- Use primers to prepare surfaces for painting, ensuring durability and paint adhesion.
- Mask off adjacent areas to prevent overspray and maintain clean boundaries during painting.
Skill Requirements
- Strong knowledge of body filler application and sanding techniques.
- Experience with primer application on vehicle surfaces.
- Proficiency in polishing techniques to achieve smooth finishes.
