Job description
Role summary
This position leads Weedmaps’ paid social and creator-led customer acquisition efforts end to end. The role is responsible for setting strategy, running campaigns, and improving performance across Meta and other growing biddable social channels such as TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit, and Snapchat, while also overseeing paid influencer and creator partnerships.
The job is centered on efficient first-time shopper growth in a highly regulated industry, where creative testing and iteration are the main drivers of performance. It combines media buying, creative partnership, and culture-led marketing, making it a strong fit for someone who thinks in experiments, works well with creators and creative teams, and can translate cultural moments into measurable business results.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the full paid social program across Meta and emerging social platforms, with ownership of pacing, bidding, targeting, and creative performance against shopper growth and efficiency goals.
- Manage creator and influencer acquisition campaigns from partner discovery and briefing through whitelisting, partnership ads, measurement, and scaling successful approaches.
- Improve first-time shopper acquisition by treating creative as the main lever for performance, with rapid concepting, briefing, testing, and iteration.
- Act as the main bridge between paid media and creative teams by turning performance data into actionable creative briefs and feeding learnings back into future concepts.
- Build and maintain a continuous testing plan for hooks, formats, messages, and audiences, with structured analysis and clear takeaways.
- Work with the Lifecycle team to connect acquisition to engagement and retention outcomes, not just initial volume.
- Keep channels compliant and healthy by following platform policies and cannabis advertising rules across the applicable state-level legal framework.
- Partner with senior leadership and Finance on budget planning, monthly and quarterly scenarios, and market prioritization tied to key cultural and seasonal moments.
- Coordinate with Media Operations on tracking consistency, Branch/UTM setup, conversion measurement, and reporting quality.
- Assess and adopt new platforms, creator partners, and ad technologies as opportunities and risk levels change.
- Share channel results, creative learnings, and recommendations with marketing leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Document workflows, testing learnings, and strategy in shared SOPs to support continuity across the team.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of direct paid media experience, with deep hands-on knowledge of paid social and Meta.
- Proven success scaling acquisition through creative-led social campaigns.
- Practical experience with paid influencer or creator programs, including partnership ads or creator whitelisting.
- Strong analytical ability with comfort using metrics such as CPA, CPC, CTR, ROAS, and retention or downstream quality signals.
- Experience planning and running structured creative experiments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with creators and creative teams.
- Excellent organization and self-direction in a fast-moving, ambiguous, high-volume environment.
Additional qualifications
- BA/BS is preferred.
- Exposure to attribution and measurement tools, MMPs such as Branch, and GA4 is a plus.
- Experience with creator marketplaces, social listening, or UGC sourcing and production workflows is preferred.
- Strong cultural awareness and an ability to turn trends into paid social and creator activations is helpful.
- Experience in a marketplace, publisher, or two-sided platform business is a plus.
- Background in regulated or restricted-advertising categories is beneficial but not required.
