Role Overview

We are seeking a creative and collaborative Packaging Designer to join our team. This position requires a strategic thinker capable of managing the entire design process from concept through to production. The ideal candidate will work onsite at our New York office three days a week and remotely for two days, as the hybrid work schedule is mandatory.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with the VP of Design and cross-functional teams to devise and implement design approaches across print and digital platforms.
  • Offer constructive feedback to assist in project advancement and design refinement.
  • Manage time efficiently to consistently produce high-quality work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Design and produce packaging and display mechanicals that are press-ready (rfp).
  • Coordinate with the Packaging Manager to ensure design integrity throughout the packaging development stages.
  • Capture product photography and perform image retouching for packaging and display purposes.
  • Liaise with various departments to meet packaging needs and deadlines.
  • Conduct ongoing research to stay updated with contemporary design trends.
  • Introduce innovative creative inspirations and enhance both personal and team technical and creative skills.
  • Oversee the packaging proofing process by securing internal approvals and communicating any feedback to overseas graphic teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of professional experience in packaging design, specifically within the soft accessories category.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Excellent design sense including typography and color theory.
  • Highly driven individual with a passion for beauty and fashion industries; possesses a sharp commercial eye for product details.
  • Self-motivated, passionate, and result-focused professional.
  • Experience working with licensed brands and interpreting brand style guides for product extensions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong creative thinking, conceptual skills, execution ability, organization, and overall design caliber.
  • Skilled in creating press-ready mechanicals (rfp).
  • Knowledge and experience in photography and image retouching.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Capability to plan and prioritize team tasks to meet seasonal deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Adaptable and innovative problem solver, capable of quickly pivoting when necessary.
