Role Overview
The Overseas Education Counselor operates remotely in a full-time capacity, guiding prospective students throughout their study abroad journey. This role involves conducting counseling sessions, evaluating students' academic and career profiles, and recommending appropriate countries, institutions, and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive counseling to prospective students about studying abroad options.
- Assess academic qualifications and career goals to recommend suitable courses and universities.
- Guide students on application strategies, required documentation including resumes, statements of purpose, recommendation letters, scholarship opportunities, and visa processes.
- Maintain regular, clear communication with students and their families, keeping detailed records of all interactions.
- Coordinate efforts with partner institutions and internal departments.
- Offer post-admission assistance such as pre-departure orientations and connecting students with international mentors to ease their transition.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Basic knowledge or experience in customer service, educational consulting, or familiarity with international higher education admission procedures is desirable but not mandatory.
- Proficient in student and career counseling techniques to assess and guide students effectively.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written; ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational capabilities, managing application processes, deadlines, and related documentation such as SOPs, LORs, resumes, and essays.
- Comfortable using essential digital tools, including CRM or student management systems, especially in a remote work setting.
- Bachelor's degree completed or in progress; prior experience in overseas education or academic counseling is advantageous.
- Ability to work autonomously, maintain confidentiality, and exhibit cultural sensitivity when engaging with students from various backgrounds.
