About the Role and Organization
We are offering two positions for the role of Outreach and Engagement Officer at London Borough of Hackney's Hackney Education Alternative Learning Service (HEALS): one permanent and one 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment. Hackney is a vibrant and progressive borough in London with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and innovative public services. HEALS supports children and young people facing obstacles in their learning, including issues related to mental health, physical needs, or social challenges, by integrating specialist services into a holistic support system.
Key Responsibilities
This role serves as a crucial link between schools, the HEALS Hub, and local communities. The officer is tasked with identifying and removing barriers to education using data-informed interventions and trauma-sensitive approaches. Responsibilities include managing a varied caseload, coordinating networks of professionals, providing emotional and practical support to stabilize families, facilitating referrals to the HEALS Inclusion panel, and guiding students sensitively through reintegration into mainstream schools. The role aims to build sustainable capacity within education systems to support vulnerable children effectively.
