About the Role

You will join Youth Work Ireland as a part-time Our Generation Youth Worker based in County Louth on a temporary fixed-term contract from September 2026 to September 2027. The role supports the 'Our Generation' project funded by SEUPB - Peace Plus, aiming to enhance youth mental health and wellbeing through cross-community and cross-border collaborative efforts. The position offers a Development Officer Grade 1 salary starting at 41,500.49 with 35 hours working week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing key youth programs designed to build peace, emotional resilience, and informed decision-making skills in young people aged between 11 and 25 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit young participants through proactive engagement with schools and community groups, overcoming participation barriers and fostering cross-community and cross-border shared activities.
  • Plan and deliver flexible youth programs as co-designed with young people, covering core themes such as Mind Matters (emotional resilience), CHOICE (relationships and sexual health), Stand UPP (gender-based violence prevention), and Rise Up (leadership and social action).
  • Manage practical arrangements including travel, venues, and refreshments within budget limits.
  • Coordinate activities with partner organizations to maximize cross-community and cross-border engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain programme fidelity by following session checklists and using evaluation tools as per SEUPB requirements.
  • Record and monitor participation data, conduct outcome-based evaluations, participate in practice observations, and contribute to team and project reviews.
  • Promote the peacebuilding program via social media and agency communications, adhering to publicity guidelines.
  • Handle all financial, monitoring, and administrative responsibilities associated with the project, ensuring compliance with Youth Work Ireland's policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, including relevant training and critical reflection to address emerging needs.
  • Attend relevant meetings with lead partners and funders and uphold safeguarding, data protection, and organizational policies.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional qualification at Level 7 (NFQ) or equivalent diploma/degree in Social Work, Youth and Community Work, Social Care, or relevant Social Science field.
  • Proven experience delivering structured, manualized youth programs in challenging environments.
  • Valid and full driving licence with access to a car as travel across County Louth and neighboring areas is a daily necessity.
  • Willingness to engage with young people in various settings regularly.

Desirable Criteria

  • Level 8 professional qualification.
  • Experience coordinating projects in similar contexts.
  • Familiarity with peacebuilding initiatives and cross-border work environments.
