Job description
Position Overview
The Ophthalmic Scribe plays a critical role in assisting physicians in an eye care clinical environment to boost efficiency and streamline patient care. This role demands foresight to anticipate physician needs, excellent communication skills with patients and colleagues, and the ability to manage multiple tasks for smooth operation of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities
- Document ophthalmic examinations and procedures performed by physicians with accuracy and completeness
- Record relevant diagnoses, symptoms, prescriptions, and follow-up care instructions as directed
- Communicate self-care and follow-up guidelines to patients and their families in alignment with physician instructions
- Manage patient scheduling, maintain clinic workflow, and inform of any delays clearly
- Carry out other duties assigned by department leadership or attending physicians
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory
- Prior experience as an ophthalmic scribe or technician is advantageous
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
Physical Requirements and Workplace Environment
- Requires standing for prolonged periods, verbal communication, and auditory engagement
- Primarily sedentary with prolonged sitting while performing tasks
- Close visual acuity needed to complete job duties accurately
