Role summary

A major financial institution with extensive operations across North America is hiring an Operations Officer II to support an existing business need. The organization operates in institutional and corporate banking, wealth management, private banking, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking.

Contract details

This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent role. The pay rate is $26 per hour. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, with a hybrid work arrangement. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

What you will do

  • Deliver a wide range of operational assistance and handle routine to more specialized transactions and processing within the Operations and Technology function.
  • Support partner relationships while helping maintain operating effectiveness so business goals, service level targets, and CEI objectives are achieved.
  • Report to a Team Manager within the team structure.
  • Contribute to a strong customer experience and loyalty outcome through every interaction.
  • Use the established internal and external problem-resolution process to address customer issues and escalate when needed.
  • Help create and recognize outstanding service through the organization’s existing service programs.
  • Ensure requests and processing tasks are completed within required service level goals.
  • Provide subject matter support to internal and external partners within the defined area of responsibility.
  • Complete assigned work accurately and within set standards.
  • Take part in daily touchpoints and work distribution activities.
  • Support successful audits by following audit requirements and process guidelines.
  • Spot potential risks and escalate them appropriately.
  • Follow bank codes of conduct and related expectations.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and participate actively in improvements.
  • Understand and apply service centre and bank operating policies and procedures.
  • Stay adaptable to changes within the business unit and wider function.
  • Adopt new process updates and technology enhancements.
  • Use due diligence to protect the accuracy of all transactions.

Required experience and qualifications

  • A university degree in business or finance is required.
  • Bring 2 to 4 years of experience in banking or a financial institution.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Have prior transfer and transaction experience.
  • Communicate clearly in both written and spoken English.
  • Work with a high level of accuracy and close attention to detail.
  • Use strong quantitative and analytical thinking skills.
  • Work independently and adjust to technology changes.
  • Use Excel to run macros.
  • Handle strict deadlines and large work volumes effectively.
  • Show strong organization and time management ability.
  • Be self-driven and goal oriented.
  • Adapt readily to changing policies and procedures.
  • Understand MM and FX products such as options, foreign exchange spots and forwards, and money market deposits and loans.
  • Knowledge of Global and WSS platforms will be considered an advantage.
