Job description

About the Company

Discernis develops AI-powered document intelligence solutions for sensitive legal workflows. Since its customers deal with privileged and regulated matters that standard cloud AI systems often cannot support, the company operates on-premises, in customer-controlled environments, and in the cloud. Security, reliability, reproducibility, accuracy, explainability, and data control are treated as essential product requirements.

The company works with AmLaw firms and enterprise legal teams.

About the Role

This position sits at the core of the business and works closely with the founder and leadership team to keep daily operations moving across several functions. The work spans operations, marketing, finance, and compliance, with meaningful responsibility from the start. As one of the company’s earliest non-engineering hires, you will help define how the organization runs and grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the executive team with the everyday work that keeps the company moving, including tools, vendors, travel, expenses, scheduling, and office coordination.
  • Build and maintain investor- and customer-facing materials such as updates, data room files, and properly formatted invoices and contracts.
  • Own conference and event execution end to end, covering planning, logistics, on-site coordination, and post-event follow-up.
  • Assist with marketing and go-to-market activities, including content, social media, website updates, outreach, and collateral.
  • Help organize recruiting activities and onboarding as the team expands.
  • Take ownership of tasks from the leadership team and carry them through to completion wherever support is needed most.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in operations, business operations, or a similarly broad role, preferably in a startup or other fast-moving environment.
  • Strong organizational ability and careful attention to detail, especially when working with documents, numbers, and deadlines.
  • Clear, professional writing and communication skills for dealing with investors, customers, and partners.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and changing priorities, with the ability to switch between strategic and hands-on work in the same day.
  • Good judgment and discretion when handling confidential investor and customer information.
  • A proactive, resourceful approach with a strong tendency to take ownership and follow through.
  • Bonus interest in legal tech, AI, or startups, along with familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion.

Additional Information

This is an early non-engineering hire role with broad ownership and exposure to many parts of the business. The position is based in the New York City Metropolitan Area and is onsite.
