About the role
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service is hiring an Operational Support Grade for HMP Guys Marsh in Shaftesbury. This is a hands-on, fast-moving role that helps keep the prison operating safely and efficiently day to day.
The position combines desk-based duties with practical work on the ground. Typical tasks include supporting security checks at the gate, carrying out searches, handling deliveries, overseeing visitors, monitoring telephone activity, and watching CCTV. The job can also involve lifting, carrying, and walking across the prison site, including escorting vehicles.
What the role involves
You will work as part of a supportive team and contribute to the smooth running of the prison. The role is varied and active, with a balance of administrative and physical responsibilities.
Although contact with prisoners is limited compared with prison officers, there may be occasional interaction depending on the prison.

Pay and benefits
The salary for this position is £29,432.
