Role overview
The Operational Services Officer supports high-quality hospital and facility services across porterage, waste handling, linen and laundry work, food service duties, and cleaning. The role also involves assisting health professionals where appropriate and contributing to patient care in a courteous, team-oriented environment.
Key duties
- Carry out support tasks in porterage, waste, linen, laundry, and food service areas, taking responsibility for assigned work.
- Complete a range of cleaning activities, including light and heavy cleaning, high and low cleaning, internal and external areas, cobweb removal, wall and ceiling cleaning, window and furniture cleaning, damp dusting, vacuuming, and mopping.
- Help health care professionals as needed, interact respectfully with patients and their relatives, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
What we're looking for
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements for patients, clients, and the facility at all times.
- The ability to solve problems, use initiative, work with minimal supervision, and cooperate well with a multidisciplinary team.
- Clear and effective communication with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Capability to work across porterage, cleaning, waste, and laundry services.
- A willingness to learn about hygiene standards, infection control, food safety, workplace health and safety, total quality management, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination practices.
Mandatory requirements
- Must be vaccinated against, and continue to remain vaccinated against, the vaccine preventable diseases required under Health Employment Directive No. 01/16.
