Job description

Role overview

Darling Downs Health is hiring an Operational Services Officer to join the Kingaroy team. This is a practical, hands-on position that supports patient care, day-to-day hospital activity and the smooth running of the site. The role contributes to safe surroundings, assists clinical staff where needed and helps ensure patients, visitors and colleagues have a positive experience.

What you will do

In this role, you will help maintain a safe, tidy and welcoming environment while supporting the broader health service across a range of operational tasks. Your work will assist with patient movement, contribute to basic care support, and help keep hospital systems functioning effectively.

  • Assist in maintaining spaces that are safe, clean and pleasant for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Support patient transfers and other basic care activities alongside clinical teams.
  • Help with core service functions such as cleaning, waste handling, transport and catering.
  • Look after equipment, buildings and grounds so they remain dependable and well maintained.

About you

You are likely to be practical, reliable and motivated by work that helps others. You remain composed in busy situations, work well with others and take care in the way you approach each task. Whether you are assisting patients directly or supporting operations behind the scenes, you understand the value of your contribution and take responsibility for maintaining a safe, respectful environment.

What will help you succeed

The ideal candidate brings experience in operational or support services, preferably in a healthcare or comparable setting. A solid understanding of safety, hygiene and manual handling is important, as is the ability to organise priorities and adapt to changing needs in a fast-moving workplace.

You will fit well if you have a team-oriented approach and a genuine commitment to compassionate, respectful service. Experience in hospital support work or in regional or remote locations will be an advantage, and confidence with patient movement and care support tasks will help you stand out.
