Role Overview

The Operation Theatre (OT) Manager will be responsible for leading the entire OT complex and ensuring that daily surgical operations run efficiently, safely, and in coordination with clinical as well as support teams. This position requires strong operational oversight, resource planning, team management, and a high focus on patient safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Operation Theatre and ensure all planned surgeries are carried out without disruption.
  • Work closely with surgeons, anesthetists, nursing teams, and supporting departments to keep OT activity coordinated and efficient.
  • Improve OT usage by managing surgery timetables, staffing, equipment availability, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Make sure surgical tools, medical devices, and consumables are available and properly maintained.
  • Handle inventory control and coordinate with procurement and CSSD teams to support uninterrupted OT activity.
  • Maintain strict compliance with infection prevention practices, patient safety requirements, and hospital SOPs.
  • Support adherence to NABH and any other relevant quality and accreditation standards.
  • Guide, mentor, and develop OT staff while planning workforce deployment and duty rosters effectively.
  • Track operational performance indicators and implement improvements to strengthen efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Manage audits, incident records, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the main coordination link between the OT and other clinical and administrative teams.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates with an academic background in Healthcare, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or Hospital Management will be preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in OT management, hospital operations, or a comparable healthcare leadership position is required. Prior work experience in a multi-specialty or tertiary care hospital will be considered an added advantage.
