Job description
Role overview
This position is for a senior instrumentation commissioning specialist based in Dubai for an onshore project. The assignment offers an attractive day rate and runs for two years. The person in this role will oversee commissioning, testing, and final handover of instrumentation and control systems while ensuring alignment with project requirements, internal procedures, and international standards.
What you will do
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all instrumentation commissioning work across cross-functional project teams.
- Create and carry out commissioning strategies, test procedures, and schedules for instrumentation and control equipment.
- Provide technical input during the design phase so commissioning needs are built into the solution from the start.
- Assist with Mechanical Completion tasks, including philosophies, procedures, inspection documents, and test records.
- Prepare commissioning methods, execution procedures, and handover packs that support project goals.
- Work closely with engineering, construction, and operations groups to ensure an efficient shift from completion to operational start-up.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and close out difficult instrumentation and control problems during pre-commissioning and commissioning.
- Oversee calibration, loop checks, functional testing, and performance verification of instrumentation systems.
- Ensure all work follows HSE requirements, quality expectations, and best-practice operational standards.
Requirements
- A Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma, or bachelor’s qualification in Instrumentation Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 10 years of varied experience in instrumentation engineering, including design, installation, hook-up, and commissioning.
- Good working knowledge of oil and gas industry standards, technical specifications, international codes, and certification requirements for equipment.
- Practical, hands-on experience commissioning instrumentation and control systems in active project environments.
- Direct experience with Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning stages on projects.
Additional information
This is a two-year contract position. The compensation is structured as an attractive day rate. The role is based onshore in Dubai.
